Beach side dining anyone ?
The Beach House is located at Kolios beach and its right on the beach. Dine with your feet in the sand and take a dip in the sea right in front of the restaurant. They serves fusion type Greek food and has a wine list to match. They have a lunch menu to complement their usual dinner menu. The Baach House have ample parking available and it's really easy to get to - just take the road to Koukounaries and get off at Busstop 14 . The Beach House Website and Contact Details
Maniatis Garden Restaurant is another great spot we highly recommend to our guests, situated right on the water’s edge at Achliades beach. It offers on-site parking, although spaces are limited. The restaurant is best known for its lunch offerings, featuring a traditional Greek menu accompanied by a selection of wines and refreshing cold Alpha beer on tap. A must-try are their cheese balls, which we consider the best we’ve ever tasted—don’t just take our word for it, try them yourself and let us know what you think! Pair your cheese balls with a classic Greek salad and Tzatziki as starters. For mains, they offer delicious options like cheese-stuffed calamari, prawns, and other Greek specialties. To get there, follow the narrow road down next to the Esperides Hotel until you reach their parking area. Take your towel along and take a dip in the sea between courses.
Megali Ammos Restaurants - Local to Villa Atena's location and within walking distance.
Megali Ammos Beach (meaning big sand) is within walking distance from your accommodation and it's no more than a quick 10 min walk. Once you hit the beach there are 2 restaurants that we highly recommend to all our guests and they are restaurants that we personally frequent ourselves on a regular basis.
Taverna Tessaloniki is a family run traditional Greek taverna with the most delicious of Greek food on offer. They have the coldest Mythos beer on tap in the whole Island. Their Tzatziki and Taramasalata is to die for and for mains try the Grilled Squid which we also rate to be the best on Skiathos. They serve well priced, good honest Greek food with traditional family service with a smile, even right to the end of the season. Thessaloniki don't take bookings so just arrive and if there is not a table available for you - wait a few minutes in the bar area. It's well worth the trip and the wait if you have to. They have parking inside their premises and its a good option for your first night at Villa Athena whilst you still getting yourselves familiar with the wild island traffic and restricted parking places. Also a good option for a quick lunch and a cool dip in the Aegean sea.
Exantas is a Greek fusion restaurant in Megali Ammos run by 2 local brothers, Thanasis and Kostas and apart from the good food they serve they arguably also have the BEST WINE LIST on the whole Island. It's as thick as the bible and have wines in form all Greek cultivars and blends and from all regions within Greece. They travel Greece in the winter months to buy wine for their restaurant. You have to book to get the best table in the house - right on the front row where you will dine with the expansive Aegean sea right next you - but it's well worth it. WhatsApp Kostas Zouhas +30 697 292 7806 - tell him we send you and get the best table available.
Gyros, Anyone?
No trip to Greece is complete without indulging in a delicious Gyros at least once. For those unfamiliar, Gyros is meat cooked on a vertical rotisserie, thinly sliced, and served wrapped or stuffed in pita bread, along with fresh ingredients like tomato, onion, fried potatoes, and creamy tzatziki. Mmm… just thinking about it makes my mouth water!
Skiathos is home to many Gyros spots, but our top pick by far is No Name, tucked away in a side alley near the Old Port in Skiathos Town, just off Papadiamanti Street, the main tourist thoroughfare. Whether you choose to sit down or grab a takeaway, this place offers the best value for money when it comes to Greek food—guaranteed.
A close runner-up for Gyros in Skiathos is Pork and Roll, conveniently located near Paraskevi Beach on the main road to Koukounaries, close to bus stop 16, with parking available across the road or behind the restaurant. Pair your Gyros with a beer or a glass of wine, and you’ve got lunch or dinner sorted. And don’t forget to check out their bathroom—there’s a little surprise waiting for you, but you’ll have to visit to see it for yourself!
Skiathos In Town Dining
If you’re planning a night out to Skiathos Town for dinner, we highly recommend reserving a table at To Palouki, a charming traditional Greek restaurant located in the heart of town near the big church. They offer some of the finest Greek dishes in town. Must try is the creamy mushrooms as an appetiser and be sure to also try the Kleftiko, which we and many of our guests have voted the best on the entire island. The seafood pasta is also excellent. Reservations are essential, but it’s definitely worth it!
Ricchi E Poveri, located in the old port area of Skiathos, is a tapas-style restaurant known for its delicious small plates. Situated just up the steps from the old port, the restaurant offers an elevated setting with views of the Bourtzi and the port. It’s a great spot for dinner in town, and booking is essential. For the best experience, request a front-row table when making your reservation to enjoy the perfect vantage point for watching life unfold in Skiathos port at night. Fancy dining with a view ?
If you looking for an eatery with the most incredible views on the island then we have 3 options available that will not disappoint.
Akre Restaurant - At the only roundabout in Skiathos at busstop 4, take the road leading up to Akre Restaurant, located approximately 500 meters above the town. Akre is a relatively new addition to the Skiathos dining scene, offering delicious Greek cuisine along with breathtaking views of the town, the port, and the distant uninhabited islands. For the best experience, reserve a table for dinner and request a front-row seat to enjoy unobstructed views of the town. Try to time your reservation with sunset, allowing you to witness the beautiful transition from day to night as the town’s lights begin to sparkle. Their lamb is a good option but so is everything else on the menu. Akre Restaurant Bookings: +30 694 878 0139
Platanos Restaurant, the highest-altitude dining spot in Skiathos, is nestled high in the mountains beneath a canopy of beautiful trees. It boasts a dining deck that offers some of the most spectacular views you’ll find at any restaurant on the island. The menu features traditional Greek taverna dishes, including souvlaki, moussaka, tzatziki, and Greek salad. While the food is good, it’s the breathtaking views that truly draw visitors here. We recommend visiting Platanos for a late lunch to fully enjoy the scenery and to avoid navigating the mountain roads after dark. Bookings: +30 693 241 3539 also visit their Platanos Facebook Page
Anatoli Taverna Skiathos is also up in the mountains and overlooks Skopelos Island. This family run taverna offers traditional and well prepared, tasty Greek food. We love the lamb chops, but they offer many other traditional dishes. In season they also have zucchini flowers stuffed with rice which is a must try if they have it on the menu. Here are a couple of bars we particularly enjoy while in Skiathos:
For a lively atmosphere with plenty of drink options, the old port of Skiathos is a great spot. The bars here are vibrant and perfect for a cocktail or pre- or post-dinner drink.
If you’re looking for a quieter and more intimate setting, we recommend Andersons. Nestled in a side alley off Papadiamanti Street, it provides a laid-back escape from the bustling port bars. Not sure what to drink - we suggest you try the Pina Colada or Mojito - Rated as some of the best in Europe.
Another excellent choice is The Blind Dog. This pub, located on the first floor just off Papadiamanti Street, features live music and is ideal for unwinding with a drink or two on your way out of town. It attracts a more mature crowd and offers a cozy, inviting atmosphere—be prepared to join in and sing along to some familiar tunes!
